Homicide clearance factors. The state of knowledge

 Despite extensive literature on homicides, modelling and explaining homicide has not always been at the center of the scientific concerns of researchers. In order to provide a synthesis of the current state of knowledge on the factors surrounding homicide, this article addresses, in addition to theoretical foundations, the results of studies examining the effects of victims’ characteristics, the circumstances of the crime and associated investigative activities. We will see that, far from being unanimous, the results of scientific research on this subject are not entirely clear.
