This article examines the methodological challenges involved in analyzing inequalities in police homicides in France based on migration origin. Using a database covering the period from 1990 to 2020, we highlight the systematic overrepresentation of foreign, immigrant, or immigrant-descendent individuals among victims. These disparities vary greatly depending on the type of intervention, suggesting that they are explained more by police control activities than by a differentiated use of lethal force.
