Humiliation on the Internet: A New Form of Cyberdelinquency?

The article analyses a new kind of crime: humiliation on the internet. This form of attack threatens the dignity of the person through using images and can be a social problem for all sectors of the population. Seen as having the same characteristics as in conventional humiliation, cyberhumiliation using the internet adds some specific elements, such as the impossibility of responding to the insults and offence. The results from sociological research with young adults shows their view of cyberhumiliation and the means used to avoid such attacks. We will see that the emergence of these individual strategies reflects in fact the inefficiency of the authorities attempts to find adequate solutions for this type of crime.
