Professional Socialization of French Municipal Police

Alongside the Police Nationale and the Gendarmerie, the municipal police have overlapping jurisdiction in relation to public security in the French countryside. Stemming from qualitative research, this article seeks to illuminate their professional socialisation, their lived experience in the role and the construction of their occupational identity, looking both at collective integration and personal impact.
